A welcoming, hands-on half-day course designed for young people with SEND who want to explore TV cameras and on-camera work. Delivered on Saturday mornings, Camera Confidence introduces how a TV camera works through friendly, accessible demonstrations and guided practice. Learners will get the chance to handle equipment and record their own footage in a supportive environment.
What learners will gain:
Practical, easy-to-follow introductions to camera parts, framing, and basic operation
Supervised time recording short clips to build familiarity and confidence on camera
Creative encouragement to explore storytelling and personal expression
Skills development that inspires ongoing interest in media and production
Our tutors are highly experienced camera operators and trainers, with years of experience in a range of settings. Our lead tutor, Verdy has been nominated for 2 Emmy’s for his work as Director of Photography on Welcome to Wrexham and he also worked on various sports productions such as The Superbowl and Tour de France.
This course is ideal for beginners and those wanting a positive, confidence-building introduction to filmmaking and broadcast. All learning needs are supported through small groups, experienced instructors, and an inclusive approach ensure everyone can take part and succeed.
